8mm nylocs with penny washers, get them from any hardware or diy store or if you have got a engineering supplier you could go for stainless steel nylocs and washers

I think they are not stainless, just zinc coated. Zinc ones are much stronger.

Think you may want to reconsider that last statement ...

zinc is just used as a coating to protect and give steel or iron a better apperance
you need to take a look at the brinnell hardness scale mild steel has a hb of 120 stainless steel has a hb of 1250 from the age of 16 to 30 i was a welder/fabricator and traveled to a few countries fixing tobacco making machines, vibrating conveyors and all other types of machinery, we were only aloud to use stainless steel fixings for their strength and less likely to become damaged

I think you will find that steel used on chassis, brakes and suspension is not stainless steel.
Please try and contradict me, I need a smile. You seem to have conjured up mild steel yourself by the way. No one else mentioned this. |

i am not trying to contradict you at all, in my first reply all i said to the op (that he could go for the stainless steel nylocs and washers) in my opinion stainless steel looks much better than zinc plated, i dont think i said any thing about the chassis, brakes or suspension, i only mentioned mild steel as that is what most nuts and bolts are made of and then coated with zinc

The rover nuts and bolts for high tensile applications appear to be a high carbon alloy with heavy galvanisation. Or zinc plated in other words.
Stainless steel tends to have a set strength, you don't find high carbon versions of it as far as I know. So you don't find it on chassis, brakes or suspension. |
