Easy mistake to make, I think we have all seen things on the TV without social distancing, masks etc and taken a double take

My old Mam (86) got her phone call to get the vaccine last week at........Macclesfield hospital Saying as we're in tier 4 & cant go out of our vicinity how would that work!!! Pointless anyway as Mam told them to burger off lol.
I think a lot of the NHS staff must be off work isolating in our neck o the woods, My Flu jab appointment before Christmas was at Whiston hospital Liverpool if I wanted it I told them to burger off too as we were in tier 4 restrictions. Still haven't had that yet.

I did not think travel restrictions applied if it’s for “medical reasons “

Mind, Mac Les Field is a fair way from anywhere in Lancs, but it depends where your mam lives?

Oh! right, I wasn't sure. Mam lives 500 yards from us in Lancashire, They know she's housebound & requires PTS (patient transport services) as we cant get her into & out of a car any more. I'll stay safe at home regards going to Liverpool for a flu jab though.

Surely there are alternative vaccination places north of the Mersey. I mean Macclesfield is almost all the way across Cheshire bordering on Derbyshire.
On that basis they'll be asking us to go to Birmingham or Derby.

Some of her friends in the same age group have had their vaccinations locally less than two miles away, Why they thought sending Mam to Macclesfield for her vaccination is any ones guess They've never been in touch since despite being told that appointment isn't suitable for her.

Ian cant you contact whoever sent your mother the appointment? Surely "they" you could work something out more suitable so she could get this treatment? Chris S.

I've been in touch with my sister this afternoon who Liaises with the district nurse that comes to see Mam on a regular basis & she's looking into it. Mam is also getting over a recent hip replacement after a fall and they've been informed about her condition. Why they sent her a vaccine appointment so far away is a mystery Edit: I forgot to add ringing her doctors is a waste of space, nobody answers it and it's almost permanently engaged.

My aged Aunt who has been keeping isolated in her flat has been offered vaccination in a centre fifteen miles away, yes she could arrange transport. We have discussed it and she has phoned her local chemist. She has known the pharmacist for years. He has told her that he should be giving vaccines within the next month. She can walk the four hundred yards without meeting others and make an appointment with him.
Considering she can carry on with her precautions until then.and we all have to continue taking precautions until at least ten days after our second jab, she is willing to wait and avoid sitting in a centre with numerous strangers. |
