Default Rode in a 1.8T 75...Impressed!!

I`m going to be getting a 75 in a month or two so I`m reading everything I can, I had settled on a CDTI but a friend at work took me for a spin in his 1.8T 75 club SE at lunchtime and I was very impressed with the pick up on the thing a lot quicker than I thought it would be, being so silent inside compared to my Celica made it seem even quicker. I could really feel that turbo kicking in ...think I want a 1.8T now LOL, lot cheaper than the diesel so I could put some cash aside just in case the dreaded HGF happens.
Just thought I`d share what you 1.8T owners already know.

Another convert! good to hear, there are some very hi spec (and cheap) 2.0 & 2.5 V6's about, they don't suffer from HGF either

I have noticed the very low prices of the V6`s I dont do a big milage (7000-8000 per year) so I could prob stand the petrol but its the tax that would upset me.

The 1.8T is a wonderful engine, had a go in a 75 auto tourer LPG'd and a manual saloon ZT.

Head gasket risk aside, theres no reason not to go for one imo, espcially with tax brackets cheaper than V6 and will handle better with less front weight.

Manual is wonderful in them, ZT version has about 5/6bhp extra as standard and ive heard of a few remaps also bringing them closer to 180bhp. Would be rather rapid then imo.

Also, these people are extra Rover workers afaik, http://www.zandf-tuning.co.uk/ might be able to do something with a healthy 1.8T!

I must admit, prior to test driving my 1.8T i had feared it would be underpowered with being such a large car.I was very pleasantly suprised when i found how well it pulled away and picked up.

The 1.8T is well up to the job,and as previously mentioned even more so with a remap.

Love the look of yours, love the seat colour thats what I`m going to look for, anyone know what colour cars came with cream leather or was it an option in any.

Many first time passengers in a 75 have later become owners, which is quite impressive for a car that's been out of production since April 2005. I still remember sitting the first time in the one i bought, felt like royalty!

I know exactly how you felt,it took me about 10 seconds of first sitting in it to decide this is the one.The sumptuous luxury could not be surpassed.
