A couple of years ago I needed a new mower, after some research I went for a Honda Izy, an excellent piece of kit, easy to start and not had any problems with it. i looked at the slightly cheaper ones, bit the build quality difference was really noticeable.

I'm less than impressed by it. No matter how bad the quality of the components, I think it should have lasted more than 3 startups! There is a sticker on it saying do not return to store!

I'd certainly return it to the store, as not of mechantable quality. Don't think they can get out of that one.

I think the sticker probably means that once it's toast they shouldn't bother trying to sell it again...

I didn't know that about B & Q, I thought if you bought a Mountfield from them it would be the same as any other one you bought...... just goes to show, every day's a school day!.
My own lawnmower will be 39 this year and she's still going strong bless her. Maybe this summer I'll take a turn at it lol |

I'm a lawnmower snob. Got 3 Atcos, all over 20 years old. Wonderful pieces of workmanship.

I guess so!
Before I was about in this world the old man got a secondhand Atco from the council. Apparently it was specifically for bowling greens and had extra blades on the cutter cylinder - cut the lawn beautifully so I'm told. can't remember why but it went somewhere and he never had it back. There's nothing like the chug-chug noise and whiff of burnt fuel on a warm afternoon! |
