Default tv aux in lead not working

Hi, I just bought a tv aux in lead for my rover 75 - plugged it all in and the tv screen was totally dead. supposedly plug and play, just plugged it inline with the white lead, didn't put the camera ground for pin 17 on the blue plug in as I'm not using it - should just work shouldn't it? But I get a blank screen. Has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong?

This was the lead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400969771773

What did you plug into the other end of the lead, a freeview receiver or something else ?

initially nothing, then I also tried it with just a video out from an old mobile phone - but when I say no picture, i don't mean in the tv section, I mean the whole screen is dead, no menus nothing

problem solved - the seller told me the cable shrouds aren't very good, and swapping the white one on the cars lead to the supplied cable then plugging it in fixed it. Maybe this will help anyone else who gets such a lead at some point.
