having seen a youtube clip I stripped my external hard drive down so I ended up with just the hard drive in my hand. I then took my sons desk top apart hoping and expecting to find an additional plug that would fit into my hard drive. I was then going to turn his pc on and see if my hard drive would work but no spare plug.
I have found something on the net that tells me what voltage should be on each pin, I'll test for voltage next. macafee2 Last edited by macafee2; 10th July 2020 at 12:11.. |

everything can now go on hold, having tested the pcb I think it is faulty as I don't get power on all the pins I think I should but what the heck do I know? Anyway I have rung Lacie, don't ask why I rang on a Saturday I just did to ask if I could get a new pcb but no I can but wait for it wait they are going to replace the whole thing.
Apparently warranty ran out in April but they added another 3 months, I'm blown away. I thought way out of warranty. fingers crossed they follow through. macafee2 apparently it is Friday today opps Last edited by macafee2; 10th July 2020 at 14:02.. |
