I've been down to Warrington (Winwick) to collect those greenhouse window panes, it turned out to be a farm with a very nice fresh Meat & Produce shop.
I shall be paying it a visit come next shopping day that's for sure, lovely local fresh veg/free range eggs etc.

Afternoon all quite sunny now although that strong wind is still with us here too.

Replaced the broken panes in the greenhouse......which dipstick put the greenhouse so close to the garage..... I've no skin on my shoulders squeezing done the side of the pebbledash garage.

Lamb shanks in mint gravy mashed spuds peas & sweetcorn for tea I'm heading off for a hot bath to soak my back as I've seized up.

Errm - evening all, from a 300 year old farmer's cottage, high on a hill (up a ridiculously rough cart track) overlooking Scarborough. I'd promised SWMBO a week "away from it all" after the hard times she had with my sister's illness and eventual passing - and this is it. It's quaint, queer, quite obviously old - oak beams, wooden floors and doors (which don't quite fit the frames!) and walls about two feet thick. We've got a forest behind us, a working farm in front of us and from the living room and main bedroom windows, we can clearly see Scarborough Castle, the North Sea and some of the higher points in the town itself. We're surrounded by farm animals and more birds than I can identify - but surprisingly, they are pretty quiet - apart from the peacocks which can be a tad noisy!
It's so remote and peaceful, with no one's dog barking, no one revving the a--e out of his car, no one knocking at the door - just the two if us - absolute bliss
We're here 'til Sunday morning, and the weather forecast is foul for the rest of the week, after a gloriously sunny day today. We nipped out to Tesco this afternoon, stocked up on enough grub to last 'til the weekend and now we don't give a damn what Mother Nature chucks at us. We've got a supply of books, DVDs (courtesy of the cottage owner) and a propane fired boiler/heating system - sorted!

Enjoy the break both of you.
Very much deserved after what you have both been through.

Nice to see that even far from civilisation you still have an internet connection

As long as it's not that irritating "someones knocking at the door" postcode lottery advert crowd. As regards the vampire bats, I had some garlic with my tea tonight so that should ward the little bloodsucker off

Thanks Jeff - according to Ookla, I'm getting less than 1 mb/s - so I'm not going to attempt to post up any photos - but I will do when I get home
