Default Tow bar electrics

Slight problem I am having, hopefully one of you gents can help. I have a tow bar fitted with one power socket On connecting a trailer both stop lights come on even with no key in the ignition. The nearside indicator works but not the farside. On setting the car alarm a high pitched buzz is heard. I have tried this with two trailers with identical results, anybody able to help? Thanks.

Don't know if I can help but is it a newly wired towbar? if it is, must be wired up incorrectly.

Sound like you and I may be having the same problem Today I have fetched my caravan with only one indicator working and no running lights. I have traced the fault back to the 7 way wiring relay, so off tommorow to source a new one.

If you are close to Actros ask him to plug the little gismo that I gave him into the socket on your car, it will tell you whats working and what's not, by way of different coloured lights....if I can get a few spares when the rep calls in I will bring some to the yorks meet on the 16th.

THanks for the replies. I am back on holiday today (just came home to pick up some bits). So I will look to resolve this later. Hopefully it is just the relay. The Yorks meet is a bit to far for me, but thanks for the offer Raggitty.
