When looking for a fitter recently there were quite a few that said 17" was the largest they could fit. Must be a limitation on some fitting machines.

In my experience the cheaper the tyre, the more road noise you get!

Get what you pay for in tyres generally.
My belief is directional and sided tyres earn the manufacturers more revenue as there are less options to swap the tyres around during their life to "even out" the wear. Consequently they come to the end of their useful life sooner.

Yes, I am in total agreement.
I have 3 ok'ish and one LH that is nearly on wear bars AND 4 RH SPARES, I could delay getting replacements for a few thousand miles but would have to get a tyre turned on a rim and its not really worth it, hence the enquirey so that I can even out the wear in future
'As we used to do in the old days'

So can anybody that has got non directional 18" tyres fitted please name them

I have a couple of days spare this week, provisionally allocated to a new alternator - 42k Grrrrrrr but maybe a few visits to tyre dealers may produce results, telephoning doesnt seem to !

I'd be suprised if there are any 18" tyres that are nondirectional tyres, as 18" tyres would generally only be fitted to high performance cars

Hi Kev,I'm fine thanks, hope you're likewise, looking forward to the next meet. Having re-read the information on the Kumho's I stand corrected, sorry

Getting some fitted tomorrow best price I could find locally £85 inc vat balanced and fitted, from the aforementioned tyre fitters in Heckmondwike.
Next job after that is a full service including replacing full set of brakes. (once the weather gets better!)

Russ

There's a great few brands mentioned now on this thread...... but are they: Good cos ther'e cheap?
Good cos they wear well?
Good for grip?
or Good cos they are quiet?

What brand would meet all the above 4 criteria???
