They could have used the same switch for both.

If you look at the end-on view, it isn't a switch. It is possible that something has dropped of that end, but without a worker to compare it with I won't know. Mick |

I believe it uses a magnetic (Hall) effect, rather than a mechanical one, so there will be no external moving part. See this thread:
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=22631 Does it look like any of the ones here? http://www.rover2.ru/epc/r/125771 Last edited by Moonstone; 12th July 2008 at 18:21.. |

See my post at 3.15 today above. If you decide to pm, then I can also send you a link that will tell you more about the part. I can say now that the part is not suitable for a car equipped with cruise control - you do need a different switch

Moonstone, was thinking old-fashioned at the time. Should have known better! Thanks for the wake-up.
Looks a bit like no.3 but longer. Mike, will PM. Many thanks. Can't decide if I am further forward or not. Still don't know if the switch is OK, and replacing it will be a barsteward. Mick |

Here is a couple of pages from the 75 manual, they are the only reference to the cruise control switch.
Hope you can read the script. Dave T |

Dave
Many thanks for that. Am I correct in thinking that I can drop the steering column and gain easier access to the little suckers (clutch & brake switches)? Mick |

Miserable Update
Have succeeded in re-fitting clutch switch (don't try this if you don't have to).
Checked all fuses - none missing. Checked all connectors, all OK. Still doesn't work. Options now are limited: 1) Forget it - not really me. 2) Try a new clutch switch to see if that is where the problem lies. 3) If that doesn't work, then without access to a T4 to check fault codes, I am in the position of having to change out all the newly purchased pieces to see if any are faulty, but that still leaves the possibility that something somewhere in a loom is not connected. Not a very happy bunny this morning. Mick |

Right then.....
The diesel has a switch fitted on the clutch pedal to carry out 2 functions. Firtsly it's there to smooth out gear changes by providing surge damping and then to disable the cruise control when you change gear. As far as I'm aware, they only fitted one type of switch which will carry out both functions. If the car drives normally then you could probably assume that the switch is working. Leave it disconnected and take it out for a drive and see if there is a difference. In theory every time you press the clutch in the engine revs should rise instead of dropping slightly.
