Mine cost about £900.00 installed, I brought the alarm from the U.S.A I think it cost me about £400.00 and the other bit I have added was an additional £200.00. The chap that installed mine did it over a couple of days as I did not have all the gadgets in one go. I have:-

Total Window Closure, which will allow you to remotely vent the windows.

Remote Start, as per previous thread will start the car if the battery falls below a preset voltage.

Remote Boot opening.

Pager, this will send a text message to either my mobile phone or my house phone, if anyone tampers with the car by knocking it or if it goes into full alarm mode.

Brake Glass detectors, if thew windows are smashed.

He did try to fit auto lights, which would turn on the side and head lights when it gets to dusk, but he had a problem with the BCU so he removed that.

The only down side is he could "NOT" get the interior lights to come on when the alarm is turned off and the doors are unlocked.

Apart from that all works well.

that was another nice feature, the internal lights coming on when you unlocked the car.

one thing that did make me mad was the passive arming after what seemed like 5 seconds.

not only would the immobiliser come on but the alarm would too.

not fun when you are wrestling with the bootlid and bags of shopping!

I can understand how these work on some cars, but how does the system overcome the immobiliser on a 75? OK you can bypass the starter motor circuit, but unless the engine ECU gest the right codes from the immo, it's not going to run. Of course you could prise the chip out of the key and stick it somewhere close to the coil of the lock, but surely this renders the immobilser useless and therefore your insurance void?

On the illegal bit: I don't think there's a law, but In the highway code you aren't allowed to leave an engine running without you in the car, except for diagnostic purposes. I think you could get in trouble this way.

It would generally be on your drive though.

The Driver and the Environment. You MUST NOT leave a parked vehicle unattended with the engine running or leave a vehicle engine running unnecessarily while that vehicle is stationary on a public road. Generally, if the vehicle is stationary and is likely to remain so for more than a couple of minutes, you should apply the parking brake and switch off the engine to reduce emissions and noise pollution. However it is permissible to leave the engine running if the vehicle is stationary in traffic or for diagnosing faults.
