Cruise Control - T4 programming
As some of you are aware, I've been trying to retrofit CC to a V6. Unlike the diesel owners who've been lucky enough to find the ECU partially coded, I need to get my ECU programmed with the appropriate coding.
I have heard that X-Part via Omitech can provide this, but I've yet to see or hear anything conclusive to confirm this. SO I've been doing some lateral thinking and come up with 2 potential solutions. 1) Find an ECU from a car with CC already programmed. Now I would then need to get the imobiliser, keys, and probably some other bits reprogrammed to suit my car, as I'm sure that the VIN is stored in the ECU 2) Find a second hand ECU and get it wiped. Now, I'm a bit more hopeful of this, as this must of happened to numerous owners who drowned their ECU's when the plenums becam water logged. If I got a "blank" (for want of a better description) ECU, would it then recognise that my car has CC when the T4 reprogrammed it. I've read no end of MGR documentation on the matter but I still can't find the detail to point me in the right direction. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated, even if it dispells my theories.

Thanks for the offer, I may just take you up on that. The problem is, I'm not sure what is matched with the ECU........(bit like the instruments and LSM conundrum).

you need a "ZCS Request Form - Rover 75/ZT and ZTT" which you could try and get through Omitec's Product Support if you cant find it from your nearest XPart dealer.
You need to get the ZCS read "pre-" so they have a better chance of getting the recode right. You have to fill out a questionnaire of your spec and the changes being asked for. |
