Our dear old Metro
As Our dear old Rover Metro 1.1 roadburner refuses to fail its MOT. We keep using it .
But on Sunday whilst my wife was pulling up at a junction to turn right, a nice old ( 89) gentleman in his V reg Mk 2 escort came round a bend too fast and on the wrong side of the road, SWMBO pulled over to the kerb, avoiding a head on, and the escort whacked the metro in the front wing and went off up the road, only stopping some 200 yards away when flagged down by a witness ??. Pretty lucky. He was very apologetic and has agreed to pay for the repair, as an insurance claim on the metro over a fiver would write it off and give us maybe 300 quids on a good day and loss of our transport. So as I drive pass a local Ex Rover dealer some days I've popped it in for a quote just for a price.. ( did have the same wing hit a couple of years back and it was sorted 270 pound by a local body repairer). Just got the quote.. and bearing in mind the metro needs a new bolt on wing , painted and a slight painting of the drivers door front edge . and 1 replacement wheel trim . Anyone fancy a guess or two at the the quote price, using xpart bits. I'll pop back later ..with the actual number !! have fun.

How old is the Metro? I know body panels for mine are getting very rare so I guess the quote was for a lot more than 270 say about 480

Remove & replace wing, prep/prime if needed, paint & blend wing into door/bonnet & bumper. Labour/parts/materials if done at a good body shop I would guess around £700 all in!

wouldn't you prefer a more valuable prize then ??
is that b4 or after the repair maybe I should do a phone in at £1.50 p per minute ala ITV and give a 5 minute introduction this one is almost identical with less MOT , less miles and looks like less dents http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1994-ROVER-MET...d=p3286.c0.m14
