Is there any advantage in buying a 32 rather than a 16 for a dash cam?
yes, size matters if the dash cam will take a 32gb then this is perhaps preferable. your dash cam may automatically protect files so they do not get over written or it may have a facility to let you do it.
it could be a clip of something funny you want to keep or something serious.
you will be able to delete these files but your dash cam will not overwrite them.
with 16gb you may end up with so many protected files there is little space for further recording, 32gb or even 64gb will reduce this risk. the dash cam instructions will advise on what size card to use .

The "Car Cam Central" site gives some good info on what cards to use for dash cam and cctv. Looks like all Samsung cards are currently persona non gratis in their recommendations because of warranty concerns when put to such use. Transcend High Endurance or alternatively Sandisk High Endurance seem to be the preferred SD cards in the recommendations followed by Transcend 400X for those on a budget. The advice might change over time so check it out here. Click

I'm guessing here, but I suggest one of the issues is the limited number of times the data can be rewritten to these type of cards. The larger the card capacity, the longer it will be between when it will need to start to overwrite existing video data.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I bought a 32 Gb Sandisk micro SD card quite a while ago off Ebay and have only just got around to putting it in my dashcam last week. I connected it up to the PC to look at the footage and there are lots of 10 minute folders but no dashcam footage on them

I shall have to get one from a reputable dealer.
