Mostly worn out shocks are worn out everywhere. Must be cheaper to buy new than try and refurb the old ones.

To refurb old ones would mean just about changing everything.---

I have one front on the ZTT to replace and was intending to buy new however I was watching one of the car programmes on sky where they sent off shockers for refurb. New parts, new seals, new oil etc and a comment that there is no need to buy new if the shocker is in good order and the refurb is a fraction of the cost. I cant find a price anywhere on forums etc that confirms if its cost effective, or not.

But, refurbishing shockers appears to be the done thing for motorcycles and there doesn't seem to be a lot of companies doing it for cars. A few over seas which is possible if I cant find anywhere in the UK.

If its problematic, I buy new.

I'm an ardent biker myself. It would seem that bike dampers get quite a hard life with wheelies etc. The seals tend to go much earlier than any mechanical wear plus bikes tend to do much less mileage in their lives too.

A friend of mine rebuilds, re valves and balances sets of coilovers for racing cars - trust me it's cheaper to buy new 75/ZT dampers he wouldn't do anything with a standard damper for a car anyway.

There must be classic cars that you can't buy new dampers for so it would seem likely there are people who can do it however
