My current car is a June 2002 manufacture but is a 2003 model year car.
I generally go by the manufacture date.

I always cut the sills open and count the rust layers. It’s not always accurate though because with the amount of layers on my current 75 it’s suggesting it should be 47 years old…

Reebs kindly told me when my car came off the production line, however, if you want a rough estimate, have a look at the spring/damper sticker (provided it's still legible) under the rear seat. My car came off the line on 10-Aug-2001, the date on the sticker is one day earlier:

Rather than doing all that damage
can't you just take a hollow-core sample
like they do for tree rings & ancient Ice.?
