Default Cost of clutch

I've been quoted c.£800-00 for complete new clutch assembly and labour on my 2005 Rover Diesel ? Is this about right?

I recently was involved in my son-in-law's Vauxhall Insignia diesel engine swap, which also required a new dual mass flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate... £594 parts only, so £800 parts and labour sounds reasonable.

I would imagine it does, my son-in-law's Insignia is 2011 model, so about 6 years newer than any originally fitted to our cars, Ok his car had done 130K+ miles, but so have many of ours, and there was definite play in the dmf - I insisted the fitter kept the old parts for my inspection.

labour is about 250 -370

so if u add clutch plates, slave and flywheel think you'll find that is a good deal

flywheel alone is 400-500

A lot of these garages automatically change a DMF even if the old DMF is well within spec. I am currently waiting for them to do my daughters A5 clutch and they automatically quoted for a DMF.. But have said if it is within spec they will not change it... If they do, Like you I have told them to keep the old one for me to inspect.

PS, My DMF on my 75 is still the original one with 223k miles on itAnd still well with in spec when the clutch was changed.
