Default Anyone owned a Hillman Hunter before?

Hiya all just quick question anyone owned a Hillman Hunter before and how did they fair as driving car and of course reliability?

Just been Offered one now from a mate In Stoke.
Its in good nick and but does need a bit of engine work, she fires and drives but is hunting a bit which could be simple as a faulty dizzy or Cabberottr needs adjusting.

What do you think of these cars?

if I get it at a good price I can fix it and sell it for more cash like a welsh version of Wheeler dealers.

I've never had one but as a enthusiastic purveyor of old tin, I believe they are ok even underrated these days. They're a nice looking car but don't seem to be worth much. I'd be tempted if the body is ok.

Its nice looking motor and I am interested in taking a look but the price tag is £5000 as it stands which is bit steep considering its not running 100% plus I need too what the chassis is like as there know too rust at the back.

Going too have a proper chat in the morning with the owner before I go too the ford meet.

At the same time study a bit more about the car as well before I make my move in haggling the price down.

So far so good seems too be a lot of love for these cars.

I have too admit I do like the look of them and something I would gladly drive around.

Ouch, 5k sounds steep for a Hunter that's not quite up to speed. They just don't seem to pull that kind of money unless they're tip top and a good spec, GLS for example.

Had a blue 1725 GLS auto. Lovely to drive. Cousin had a green 1725 GT twin carb. Another belter of a car.
Simple to work on but by now they will suffer some serious rot unless they have been well looked after and a local welder.
Get it up on ramps and have a good poke around. Lift the carpets too.
At 5k that is very strong money for one and I would expect it to be a top example. I’ve seen examples at 2k with MOT so there are cheaper ones.

Your right there, just been comparing prices and there not really going for much at all I was pretty surprised for 70's classic.

It is in good condition paint work wise but then again there just photos with advanced camera these days make a bad car look good.

Very original no aftermarket parts.

that would certainly boost the price but £5000 not a chance its worth between £2000 £2500 at best.
