Default Wife’s 307

Hi, any thoughts as to why when key is turned there is no cranking of starter motor. Have checked battery and it is ok. Car will push start with little effort and then runs fine. It seems that while she was waiting for her friend for 5 mins she switched the ignition on so she could listen to radio as the radio only works when ignition on. Then when turning key the car made no attempt to start. Not showing that car has gone into economy mode, tried both keys no joy. Lights, radio etc all working fine. It’s a 2litre petrol. Fortunately plenty of hills on the Isle of Wight!

You could try checking and cleaning the control voltage wire connection (the thin one) to the starter motor, and if you have a voltmeter check you have 12 volts ther when an assistant turns the key.

If that checks out, and you have 12 volts on the main cable too it sounds like a fault with the starter motor itself.

There was a blown fuse, replaced and all starting ok again. Wonder why fuse blew, will have to investigate further if it blows again.
