Cool 163 years ago today...................

.............................Henry Ford was born.
Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company and pioneer of mass production. From the time he was a young boy, Ford enjoyed tinkering with machines. Farm work and a job in a Detroit machine shop afforded him ample opportunities to experiment.

mass production is in part what undid the Germans in WWII. They did not do mass production with their military vehicles and the Americans did. Perhaps dear old Henry
is to thank yet again.

American Civil War 1861? saw mass production applied to small arms production, memory says Springfield and or Winchester and some efforts by British manufactures - but yes Henry Ford a giant of car making, all credit to him. chris.s
