Hi Barry, A few years ago, my V6 refused to start. I called out the AA and he got the car started using a can of spray called ‘Easy Start”, he got the car going. After that I bought a can and used it several times to start the car by spraying it into the air intake, whilst turning the ignition key. https://www.holtsauto.com/holts/supp...diesel-engine/. I can’t remember why it wouldn’t start, but will search my posts to find out.

The AA chap went onto to clean my engine and he polished up my alternator. He told me how once a month, he takes the engine out of his XJS to clean everything. He struck me for being an enthusiast and a very nice man.

I have power to the fuel pump and I can hear it prime for about 5 seconds when I turn on the ignition but I don't have any trace of petrol at the test port (blue schrader cap???) The fuel tank gauge reads just under 1/2 full and the tacho twitches when I turn the engine over so I am ruling out the crankshaft sensor. I am fast running out of ideas. Can anyone offer any advice where to look next.
Its an auto, so could the original non starting issue be something related, just a thought.
