Admittedly not now a 75 owner, but when I did run one as a daily driver for 3 years clocking up 10000 a year VED was the least of my worries compared to the ongoing costs of keeping it on the road!

And £10 gets you access to here which saves a fortune!!

I agree the VED system is crazy - but when I compare the running costs of my cdti ZTT manual to more modern cars - I basically put up with it.

The car is also more fun than any modern eurobox

Just taxed my 308. Cost = zero, such a nice feeling after a working life of paying out loads. Cue the eurobox insults....

No insults but the factor some of us overlook it that most who run an MGR benefit from the fact that there's arguably no (more) depreciation. The best ones go up in value and the rubbish ones are worth little to anyone but their owners.

My wife's car is a Citroen Cactus. Bought it at one year and 8,000 miles old for £9k. The car came with the original bill of sale for £18k. I felt sorry for the original owner - ouch. Probably losing £1k a year now until it reaches £3k.
