A New Toy to Play With
As per title, I've treated myself to a new toy: A Burns Apache Aniversary edition guitar. It's number 007 of 500 and in amazing condition, pretty much unplayed from new and came with all accessories and certificates etc.
I love it. If only they did a version in Lagoon . Cliff

Thanks . Just need to learn how to play it now .
I'm rekindling an old interest from 30 yrs back. I was a terrible player back then, and it transpires that 30 years of not playing doesn't improve matters (who'd have thought)! Great fun though. I've always been a Shadows fan, so to get one of these with the signed certificates is magic . Cliff

I used to play in a band with some mates many years ago, but had long since given up. However, I've discovered that there is a Shadows club locally that meets once a month in a local social club. They have a "house" band specialising in Shadows numbers, and anyone who wishes just has to bring along their guitar, put their name on the running list, and they can play a couple of numbers with the band. I've been along a couple of times now (just watching) and it's a great night out, with a friendly crowd of folks. So who knows, I might yet pluck up the courage . Cliff

That is a beautiful thing. My dad sold some of his ICI shares to buy me my first Hofner Senator from Husseys(?) in Liverpool. I once, almost, bought a Burns Black Bison in Leytonstone. Just couldn't get the dosh together. Even Hank Marvin went over to Burns for a while.
I used to, as a mere lad 14 years old, play in, let's call them what they were then, a group. Still have my Fender Strat but the left hand is beginning to suffer the effects of Arth….see, can't even write the damn word. Photo is with the Hofner and friends of the time - me on the right, Billy Mullen on the left with George Newby, Norman Newby and Doris Lamb (brothers and sister who had completely adorable parents) in the middle, in Runcorn circa 1957. If anyone knows them please pass on my respects and memories of some wonderful times.
