Default ABS, TCS lights, Cruise U/S

Hi folks,

On the first start of the day I get the ABS & TCS warning lights and the Cruise Control doesn't work. After driving a couple of kms I can stop, turn off the car, restart and all is good again. It will then remain good for the rest of the day. There is no brake shuddering at any speed and the speedometer is working fine. Can I conclude I need a new left front ABS sensor? I suppose I should have a look at the sensor wires first, though.

Now, here is a bit of a weird one and I can't believe it is related, BUT it is a pretty big coincidence. On the first start of the day the Climate Control will MAYBE start to function properly and cool, but then will start blowing hot ambient air. I leave it on AUTO all the time. When I start the car the AUTO position turns on the RE-CIRCULATION, too. At first I thought the RECIRC was causing the air to warm up, but now I know that isn't what's happening. When I restart the car (like for the ABS/TCS) the Climate control works properly again and blows cold air for the rest of the day. Coincidence?

Cheers,
Glenn

Glenn,

I am not familiar with the abbreviation "TCS". Can you decode it please so that I can fully understand your post? Many thanks.

Simon

Just delete the S and then it should make sense. Not hard to guess.

Traction control Simon.

Yes Glenn it sounds like a faulty left hand front sensor.

I had a similar fault when my OSF sensor started to break down - the speedometer would work fine from starting off and then read half the true speed and then fluctuate before it stopped altogether and the ABS light came on.

Stopped the car and restarted and again it would all work fine for a bit.

Just be careful if you have to drill the old sensor out and make sure you don't damage the magnetic reluctor on the bearing and clean up all the dwarf and any rust flakes.

Thank you guys! Yes, sorry, TCS is a throwback to the Nissan/Infiniti systems - the last cars I had with that system. Funny commonality - the Infiniti Q45 TCS relay was located under the battery tray. After a while (years) battery fumes would corrode the contacts of the relay and throw up the simultaneous ABS/TCS warnings.

Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks Mike and Mike!

Call me old fashioned but if I have to guess what an abbreviation means then the whole point of that abbreviation is lost.

Bearing in mind Glenn's location, it could have been something peculiar to the North American region.

Well spotted John!

Sadly a combination of aging eyesight and modern autocorrect technology that needs to be a bit more clever than it currently is
