The turbocharger has three hard plastic pipes attached to it. These come up into the engine bay and are attached to either the boost solenoid (on the battery box side) or across to the gubbins on the inlet manifold. These images may help:

Is it the manifold coolant bleed? It's attached to a connector on the left side (as you look at it) and comes forward to a small T-piece. One leg of that goes to the upper left corner of the radiator and the other goes to the header tank neck. That's the only small bore hose I can think of.

It's coming from the waste gate bud.

Can't comment on the dump valve, but the first image above shows the standard arrangement. The only pipe from the wastegate diaphragm goes to the boost solenoid on the battery box wall. Are you trying to put it back to standard or something else? There are lots of dump valve plumbing diagrams on Google Images.

old thread resurrection
I was digging around my engine bay just tidying up pipes and wires that haven't been put back where they belong !!! and noticed a small bore vacuum pipe just dangling, it must of come off the turbo (1.8T) so fitted it back and road tested the car. seemed just the same so i found this thread and it looks like the two pipes to the turbo from the wastegate valve are the wrong way round !! so swapped them over at the turbo and the pipes look like they belong that way judging by the way they bend. road tested the car and it feels better the way the turbo kicks in, or is it in my head |
