Manual to automatic
How easy or difficult would be to convert a 1.8t manual to a 1.8t automatic?
Just thinking about converting Banana owing to my ankle injury.

Prior threads suggest that a donor car would be the best route to go for the bits that would be needed. Then the electronics would also have to be sorted and reconfigured together with DVLA's data base. My take on what I've read is that it would be very expensive and not at all easy. Links to a couple of threads that I've looked at. Click Click

It would make for one hell of a Nano Meet project!
I imagine you'd have to swap gearbox, pedal assembly, gear selector assembly, wiring loom and auto gearbox ECU as a minimum, followed up with a T4 session.

It might make more sense to see if you can swop your car for an automatic, ok i know Banana Is your baby, but its a lot of work first you have to find the bits, then get someone to do the work, if you have a busted ankle, I doubt if you will able to do much your self,

I would of thought it possible to swap a gearbox but a lot of work and maybe a bit of money but it would be possilbe as you can get auto gears in the zt as a option from new ,,,

I just hope the ankle repairs sufficiently for Banana to stay original. Take care, and be patient, Bob. |
