Default Please bear with me while I'm a pain in the butt

for the next 6 months.

Ok. 2004 04 Rover 75 1.8 Conn SE, red, 27000 miles, 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, 5 years, yes, 5 years parts and labour warranty. £3595.

What d'yall think? I know I was looking for a diesel but given I only do around 8000 miles a year, road tax has come down, I may consider a petrol, and with 5 years, yes, 5 years warranty!!!!!!!!????????????????

Only for the next 6 months Chick?

Road Tax will be going back up, but not till 2010.

Personally from choice at this stage I would avoid the 1.8's and their inherent problems HGF
but that is just me.

Check any Warranty fully, is it Insurance Underwritten? Whats excluded etc.

It's sold. Back to the drawing board. Although that guy took my number and said he'd phone if something else came in. I thought Rover had more or less sorted out the hg issue by 2004? And with a 5 year warranty??? I actually specifically mentioned HGF to him and he said it'd be covered.

Whats for me won't go by me!

Should be OK Skooter (K series on an O4 plate) Modified gaskets were fitted late 2003
Check the coolant & oil every week you'll be fine.

Hmm I could promise to check the coolant and oil every week but I know I won't. Maybe I shoudl avoid the 1.8 after all. But then again, it's within my capabilities to do a bit of maintenance surely.

Don't bet on it. Mine went on a facelift 04 but unclear whether the modified HG was on? Anyway it's sorted now with a MLS one! Ironically it wouldn't put me off the K series and would recommend any new buyer to get the modified gasket as a precaution (but still check these fluids!). For what you pay for a 1.8 nowadays a bill of approx £450 for MLS and all the belts, new coolant and oil change is well worth it!

There will always be exceptions ! Can't always go on Reg as it depends when it was manufactured and the car could have been "old stock"
There are various date labels on parts around the car which give a clue as to when it was built.

Also there's a detailed list somewhere about the chassis number

But Anna will have 5 Years warranty anyway (but make sure it covers HGF in the small print !)

Didn't our X Part guy on another thread say none of the cars had the modified gaskets?
