Engine temp and heaters
Can anyone help mg zt 1.8t takes a long time to get to temp and heaters blowing warm air until the car is reved up would this be a thermostat issue. Its fitted with the prt

It sounds like a dicky PRT issue. I 've seen at least one example where some rubber coating had lifted from the valve and wedged it open. In that situation, warmup is delayed and running temperature lower. You should check the running temperature using the Trip Screen Diagnostic method to see what's happening. The 1.8T normally runs around 90°C.

Got a new prt today and just as you say the old one was jammed with bits of rubber new one is fitted but havent yet tried it as it went dark so will be seeing how it goes in the morning

Yes previous owner engine gearbox was caked in old oil so sttripped it down cleaned it all up couple of the pipes was gone from oil contamination sorted them out and new prt with a good coolant flush will see how it goes

What temp should the cooling fan be coming on this dont have the resistor fitted 1.8t
