Default Powerfold Wiring - Complete Picture

There are already some helpful " how to " type posts about fitting powerfold mirrors but I couldnt find one with both pictures and words.

It is still a very popular mod which raises lots of questions if you have not done it before, " how do I know if I have the cross body wiring in place ", " what colour are the wires I am looking for " , " which terminals on the door switch does the wiring go to " etc

We have completed this job now on numerous occasions at Midlands Nano Meets and I thought the following explanation of the wiring with pictures may help some owners and give you the confidence to do the mod, the wiring diagram is also included below.

Great pictures there rob! Should be really helpful for those who are wondering about the wiring. If you take the glove box out you can see the grommet where the wires go into the passenger door, you should be able to see in that mass of wires the orange and orange/red wire, if you have them in there then I would say there's a really good change you've got the cross car wiring.

My car is a 51 plate ZT, and only had the wiring for the rear blind in the interior, no cruise, heated seats, traction. And it did have the cross body wiring in.

Can you also tell by looking at the connector on the back of the electric Windows switch pack?

This is a picture of the fully populated power fold switch pack in my 75

And this is the wiring from my non power fold V8, notice the missing orange pins

Obviously the harness isn't pre-wired from the door mirror to the switch pack, but could it still have the cross wiring harness, or does the abscence of Orange / orange and red wires at the switch pack mean no power fold harness of any kind is present in the car?

You could still have the cross body wiring Paul without the wires going to the actual switch, seen it enough times to say it is the most common scenario.

If you are thinking of fitting PFs and you can make a nano meet anytime, we will sort you out

Good thread Rob! Well done... I'll print out for future installs (seeing as my memory isn't what it used to be)! Pity about the ugly finger in the first picture!!!

Thanks for the offer Rob and I'll hold you to that, I've got the second horn to fit to the V8 too. I'll be working abroad for the next 7 weeks, but once I'm back, I'll look to see when I can make one finally
