Many, many years ago, I competed in a low-key Irish tarmac rally. I honestly believe that all Irish rally drivers are (in the nicest possible way!) totally and utterly insane. What they can still do with a Mark I or Mark II Escort with a BDA engine defies belief (remember, the last Mark II Escort rolled off the production line in 1980 - 33 years ago!). They are the most welcoming people on the face of the earth, their capacity for alcohol defies description, and their priorities in most events seem to be

entertain the spectators - the more sideways the better
have fun themselves - and the OP's linked video is typical
worry about how high up the leaderboard they finished a week or so later when the alcohol haze has gone

they are a truly remarkable breed
