Default Dip Stick

I don't know if anyone else has the same trouble as me,reading the oil level on the Dip Stick.I raided the Wifes makeup box,got some Nail Varnish,& painted a stripe down the oil level part on the stick,Its alot easier to see the oil level now against a pink background.

Clean oil in a petrol car is quite difficult to see accurately on the dipstick. I presume the black stuff in the diesels shows up quite well.
Sounds like a good idea to me. Now all I need is a compliant female.

Black oil on a brown dipstick is easy to see (diesel), but the first time I checked mine I was a tad concerned - it showed no oil! But trying again showed the correct level, there must be some sort of seal in the dipstick hole on the diesel.

Mine's impossible to read as well (petrol V6), unless I've got my reading specs on! Even then, it's difficult.....I'll try the nail varnish trick.

Default Oil Level

Yes, the dip stick on the Diesels must be removed, wiped, and then replaced before it is possible to read the level. I imagine scores of owners have frightened themselves silly when they checked the first time and thought the oil had all gone.

I don't think nail varnish will survive very long in the sump.
