They'll go for over £100 easily. First mki V8 bumper heat shield I've seen come up for sale in a long time.

If you miss out on this set, the mki LH heat shield can be modified to fit the RH side by making a couple cuts in the shield and bending a couple bits. It's not perfect as having a genuine RH shield, but a good alternative if you struggle to find a genuine one.

Unfortunately if you have a mkii then you will need a genuine RH heat shield, the LHD can't be modified to fit the RH side.

I offered a guy on ebay £150 for a rh trim that was on a bumper, he wouldn't take it off and post it so declined.

I reckon the OP's trims will pull £200 on the bay.

Maybe I'm talking rubbish (as usual), but surely it should be possible to make a mould out of an original and cast them? Should be less than the 100 quid plus being asked for used original ones, I would think.

Yes Byron offers replica MKII V8 RH side heat shields he had made. He doesn't offer the mki heat shields though like the set in this post.

The problem with getting things made like this is it all depends on demand. Ideally you have to have at least 20pcs made at a minimum to be able to achieve a low enough cost per unit. And even then it can still cost around £100 each as I think from memory that's how much Byron was able to offer the mkii replica heat shields for.

I'd have thought with modern 3D printers, it'd be easy enough for someone with CAD skills to draw up a 3D file, and then just print one as and when someone wants one, it's not like they actually protect anything form any heat.

That is definitely the future for many harder to find components. I have a nodding Xmas reindeer which just needs a small plastic linkage to fix it. I searched everywhere to find the part, but could only find the software file to make it. Unfortunately I can't justify £2k+ to buy the printer. There is a huge market for young bloods who get into this now. Boeing just acquired a small Italian company who are printing turbine blades for jet engines. Amazing technology and it's here now for sure.

You can buy 3d printers a lot cheaper than that, my son bought one recently that uses some sort of resin and that was only about £125.

He is going to make me some clamps I need for my Jensen that are no longer available, the resin to do the job is about £40 apparently.

Didn't realise they were available so much cheaper.

This ranked 1 for 2021 in small 3D printers. On Amazon
