I spoke to the guy at the garage again, he still suspects the ECU. Apparently he took it back to the place who refurbed it, its a place in Heanor Derbyshire, who checked it again and said it was OK.

I'll contact marinabrian and get his advice. It will be a pain paying twice, but would be good to get a definitive check to see if its OK or not.

Cheers,

Graham
That will be the ecu Doctor, if I told you that marinabrian has had to repair some of their repairs would you be surprised!!

Well having had their opinion and them send off the ECU for sorting, did it actually get wet, and have you seen the plenum chamber to prove that blocked? Have you/they tried using the throttle linkage at the engine and not the pedal?

Good luck.

I thought ECU Doctor was in plymouth (South west somewhere)

The one in Heanor is ECUTesting, who I'm hoping are going to repair my V8 ABS ECU

There is no linkage at the engine - the diesels are drive by wire. There are two potentiometers that input to the ECM, and it then regulates the injectors accordingly.

Could be, all I know is I have seen the returned ecu's from ecu doctor, and I have seen Bri repair them!

There is only one place to go for ecu repairs in my opinion.

If the ECM has been to ECU testing in Heanor, then they have no means of real time testing of their repairs.

As I don't wish to break their warranty seals, I would require the ECM and the EWS3 immobiliser in order to test it.

I have this very day been to Ripon to sort out an NNN100692 which has been back to them twice !! unsuccessfully.

30 minutes after my arrival, the car which had been out of commission since before Christmas was up and running

The data you can read with an EOBD is limited on a diesel of that age but throttle position is one of the few things you can read even with cheap handheld stuff. It should be easy for the garage to check it.

I thought mk 2 diesels (and some mk1) were all EOBD compliant?

EOBD compliant only means you can connect to it with that protocol, manufacturers were only required to output powertrain fault codes since 2005 for diesels so the info you get from it will be limited.
