I cannot believe they have been in service for 47 years. Seems only like yesterday the VC 10 made it's maiden flight.

Being close to Brize we quite often see them flying in formation on their way to land. Hopefully a museum will get one to keep.

Had my first flight in one of the transports, new recruit at 16 and a half, made me realise I'd made the right choice, be sad to see them go.

I went down to see it overfly RAF Leuchars on Friday with a pair of Typhoons as guards. Great but sad sight. Replaced by yet another MOD contracting farce!

My first flight ever was in a VC10 to Germany, and came back in a RAF Tristar.

ZA147 shortly after First Flight following conversion to a Tanker.
Taken on the pan at BAe Filton, Pilots; Flight Ops.; Inspection and Ground Crew; & Flight Test Dept.

Was a Super VC10 (ex-Gulf Air if I recall correctly) I WAS INCORRECT- ZA147 was ex-East African Airlines.
