Loose Gear Knob
My gear knob annoyingly rotates quite a bit on my 2005 75 CDTi Manual. I assume there is a lock nut of sorts under the Gaiter. How do I get to this please without causing any damage? ED

They are a push fit, probably the plastic sleeve is a bit "tired"? I had the same, all I did was wrap some tape around the shaft and refitted it.

Yes, electrical tape here too. Mine was riding up a bit on fitment of my new gaiter & coming out of the lock-slot at the top of the stick. A little tape sorted it.

Many thanks for this. Without this feedback I would have never realised that it is just a push fit on to the stick! Edward

It has a couple of clips at the bottom which locate in a groove in the stick to hold it down & a ridge at the top which fits in a slot at the top of the stick to stop it turning. I assume the clips can wear although l used a plastic tie instead of the 'O' ring on the gaiter which helped the knob to rise (as the actress said to the bishop). A simple fix.
