No mate, you're right. The diesels all had inter coolers.

This was not meant to denigrate the then team at MGRover who must have needed to work in a very disquieting environment. It's a matter of record that QC at the end was not as it had started out at Cowley. Many of the last builds have less than perfect trim and panel fit. Some of this was claimed to be due to a re-assignment of staff from the 25 and 45 lines unfamiliar with the 75. ED

Smile which diesel

My 2003 75 cdt in 116 bhp form was no slouch, especially on the motorway but had the 160 remap which gave a useful upgrade of power and slightly better economy.

Quite right - the only difference between a 116 and a 135 is the ECU map. Mechanically they are identical - same turbo, intercooler, injectors etc etc... Only difference is the state of tune when they left the factory. And yes, it's been said that some were labelled 'CDT' and some 'CDTi' However the only 'CDT' badge I've seen on a 75 is mine: and that's 'cause I knocked the 'i' off with over enthusiastic cleaning...

I do know and I'm sure either MarinaBrian, Phil-T4 or BigRuss will confirm that there were ECU changes during production, later models have different electronics to earlier cars. And some later cars have a sensor in the intercooler to EGR hose. But no way from these can a 116 be differentiated from a 135. The only way short of a rolling road is to interrogate the ECU properly ('cough). A 116 can be turned into a 135 by the Xpart upgrade, either a 116 or 135 can be turned into a '160' by either MarinaBrian, Phil-T4, or BigRuss no-one else!
