Blimey, that number plate area looks like a dartboard!
I'm sure there's someone out there wanting one though. |

All those holes! Its so unnecessary.
I shake my head when I see new reg cars with rear number plates secured with screws through brand new metal!

In some countries like in Portugal, it's mandatory. All cars have to have the license plates secured with screws or to be riveted.
This is mandatory and a way to stop or create dificulteis to the ones who want to steal them. |

I had my UK 'Yellow Smiley' plate, was told that I could not just fix the new Pt plate over it, so I bought a White Smiley with the Pt details on it from the UK. NO that's not allowed as the White colour was wrong!!! So I fixed the Pt plate on the top of the White Smiley... It has now passed the bi-annual test since then on 2 occasions |

And not only regarding the colour... the plates have a design, type of material and dimensions established by the government(IMTT). Any other not approved by them, can occur in a fine, if caught by the police and on cars that already have to go trough our annual MOT(IPO), that can result in a fail(red sheet). |

In most cases with new cars the holes are normally pre-drilled and have nylon bushes inserted for the screws to go into the tailgate and boot lids, otherwise they are stuck on.
