Default Default Rear Hub replacement

I have a 1.8 ZT-T that has just blown the rear Box and what I also believe is a 'crusty' sounding Rear Wheel Bearing. My repairman here in Portugal has sourced a BMW' box (the MGR 1.8 was never available here!) but advises me that the Hub is also not an 'on the shelf item' here either. The vehicle was built in Mar. 2005, I bought it 'new' in Mar. 2006, and it has done 58,500 miles.
I propose purchasing a Rover Hub Kit from DMGRS, would it be prudent to buy 2 kits and replace both hubs when I have the noisy one replaced?
Cheers...

You could always buy 2 and have the one as a spare. You might find that the other side might be on its way out also.

They aren't very difficult to change, it's not any easier to change two at a time, and they don't go wrong very often.

I wouldn't bother.

I would just do one side,
On my first r75 I bought it with a noisy left rear bearing,,Rover actually replaced it under the 3 year warranty. Then a few years I banged the same side into a kerb(after slipping on compacted snow) and damaged the same bearing, which I replaced.
The car did about 145000 miles(233000km) before I sold it,,,without ever needing to replace the other side.
As far as I know it's not a requirement to change both sides at a time,as with brake parts and some suspension and steering components.

The factory fitted wheel bearings were reportedly designed for lifetime service, so a hub failing after 58K miles seems very unfortunate. In this situation, I'd replace the failed one with another MGR branded one and assume the opposite one will last rather longer.

Wink Silence is Golden!

I have just returned from my repairman, somewhat lighter of wallet, but with a grin that shows that I might have come from Cheshire...
I purchased a pair of MGR Rear Hub and Bearing kits from DMGRS and the garage have replaced both over the last couple of days.
The 'roaring' has gone and driving has become a joy again...
Interestingly I had read all about possible causes of the very loud cabin noise, all postings pointed to a split engine mount, but inspection showed that was not the case here.
Listening to the 'old' bearings and rotating them in my hands, I could hear the grinding in both hubs.
Happiness now all round...
