Default Portland Pleasure

Ian & Jan,

Jan & I arrived home safe, sound but pleasantly & thoroughly exhausted tonight after a totally fantastic weekend down in Dorset, all credit down to you 2 guy's for arranging such a superb event for us & other members to attend, appreciated by all we are certain.

Mere words can not say enough to thank Jan & Yourself for arranging the flowers delivered to the hotel on our arrival Friday for Jans Birthday, also arranging for us,Angie & Phil to enjoy the evening meal at the Badger with you both, sincere thanks again from Jan & I.

Many thanks for the run out Saturday to Swanage & the fish & chips [superb btw] then back early evening to your place for a barbie, lovely company fantastic food absolutely ideal setting couldn't be be bettered even the lovely Lady from next door joined us superb evening.

The meet day itself, well what more can I say that hasn't been said.brilliant day, superbly organised great settings for our cars photo's will back this up I'm sure, brilliant day, great people that includes the members of staff at the D-Day Museum & the Verne cafe Portland who worked their socks off to accommodate us.

Last, but certainly not least, Many thanks must be paid to Ian & Jan for their very thoughtful & touching way to round off the weekend by laying a wreath in memory of our dear & greatly missed Friend & long serving founder member of this Club Derek Best [Windrush] whom we lost recently but will always command a major role in this club,God Bless, you will always be missed, our thoughts are also with Lilian.

Once again Many thanks Guy's,here's to many more,God Bless,Take care, see you both in a few weeks.

Love Jan & John. XX

Thanks are appreciated John.
When Derek passed I commented that I would always remember him marching proudly with his comrades along Weymouth sea front at the annual veterans parade and promised that there would be a floral tribute to Derek at the Weymouth cenotaph in place for the 2018 veterans event.
The plan was to lay it on the day of the Portland meet so that we could all share the moment. Unfortunately I'd forgotten about the half marathon event in town the same day so it would have been impossible to find parking for us all. Hence the wreath laying had to be postponed until the following day.

Regards Ian

What a great gesture Ian, it’s these things that make this so much more than a car forum.

Cheers mate 👍👍
