Age related marks is probably a better description.

I'm somewhat confused as to why there would be a transfer fee I very much doubt that the car with its UK plates could have its ownership transferred in Spain to the current seller using the spanish system If ownership has been transferred via the uk system then this would not generate a fee. Also if the Spanish company now owns it they would of had to pay an import tax....

If anyone is seriously interested in the car I would suggest that there is an opportunity to haggle. It makes no sense for a Spanish car company to keep in stock a rhd UK registered vehicle for any length of time. If they do officially own it they will have to get it transferred onto Spanish plates or Traffico will be paying them a visit!

The biggest no no for me is the sheer cost of the French toll roads and fuel on the way back

It's only about 700 miles from me and I have considered it, but to get there would take flights from Lisbon to Madrid and then on to Alicante. The drive back here to Portugal would be a sensible 2 day trip for a 79 year old. I 've had an email stating that the owner might be prepared to take an offer but the logisticss of the purchase would nearly double the cost of the vehicle. So - it's not for me after all...
