Comparing the pictures in the link you sent, mine is mk3. The link you put up to get another later disc I sent for, you say it works ok in yours? If it does, it means it should work in mine. Perhaps there is something wrong somewhere else with the unit. It came out of a 2003 75 Connie..

Best thing to do to check is to insert a known good disk, if there is nobody local David I am more than happy to send you an old disk that I used to use for you to try, we will then know for definite if it is your new disk or the nav unit . The only caveat is there may be a difference between the hiline and lowline, of that I have no experience. anybody else know the answer?

Default Sat nav disc

Hi all,
I have a Hi Line but the disc is from 2014. I have been wondering if there's a more up to date one I could get for it, as it often gets me lost cos half the country has been built on since then.
Thanks Jennifer

I've had that problem David. The usual reason is a mechanical fault in the disc drive such that it cannot be read. After trying lubrication and various alternative discs, I ended up changing the complete mechanical assembly. That cured it!

Unfortunately not Jennifer. 2014-15 is the most recent and I very much doubt that there will be any more.

Now I have got the boot unit out and thinking it may want a warm, I have been keeping it by the fire, in case it was damp inside the case. I can get the disc in and out. You say you have mk3 satnav. I can read on my unit that it is marked:- con mk3/BMW sn554909 on the side of where the two plugs fit. So I take this to mean it is a mk3 unit. The other identification is:- MGROVER yib000250 MONO HW 1.2 SW 5.20, so I take this to be a mk3 unit. When I read the advert for the disc, I did not notice that it said suitable for colour screen. Does this mean that it is not suitable for my satnav as it is low line.Lost in the wilderness I am afraid.
"No disc" message usually means the CD disc reader laser has had it. The reader is part of the loader module (disc handling mechanism) inside your drive; there is also a PCB motherboard sitting below it. If you are really handy you can source a new laser unit and replace it yourself (search the net for how-to on BMW Mk3 sat nav. drive laser replacement), this laser is quite cheap, just be sure to source a like for like laser assembly. If you are a little less able you can perhaps still source a new loader unit and do a straight swap-out (usually just a few screws and a bit of unplugging etc. to do) - or you can find UK repairers to do the whole job for you but they ain't cheap.
