Default DMGRS deliveries delayed by Royal Mail

Just a heads up, I've been waiting since 16th April for a delivery from DMGRS to arrive.

They say that the Royal Mail sorting office in Southampton is snowed under. It must be specific to that office because I've been getting deliveries form all over the place recently with no significant delays.

Royal Mail are not providing any tracking information either.

Mine is only a small order and I have plenty of other stuff to be getting on with so its not the end of the world.

Just bear it in mind if you are attempting projects before the weather breaks.

I ordered something through Amazon to do some work on the mini with an expected delivery date of April 14. We’ve had no real post issues so far but this didn’t arrive. I emailed the seller asking if there was any tracking info and got a angry reply back about me having no patience etc... I’m not sure where they are based so maybe it’s tied up here.

Everything I have ordered online, from every company has had delays.

My brother in law is a postman, and was recently off for self isolation (my niece tested positive for covid 19, all good now though and all back to work). Nhe told me that half their depot was off with self isolation, and some staff refusing to work in the depot due to distancing issues. That is just one depot, plus sorting offices having to operate at half capacity to allow for the distancing, so it would make sense that there will be delays. Add in to this the delay in getting your order prepared (the seller may be on short time).

For any postal order during this time I would double your waiting, for me it has been triple the time! Everything takes longer to get to ni.

Had a similar experience with royal mail , ordered on the 8th april and arrived on the 21st , 1st class post from Sheffield.
Other stuff seems to arrive ok
But the courier companies seem to be going above and beyond.
I have had dpd , DHL, ups and yodel all deliver on time when stated.
Makes a change for yodel but their last 3 deliveries have been spot on.

I live in Romsey and the parcel post is a farce, up to 2 weeks for a parcel to arrive, letter post is no better.
Items sent via courier are taking no more than 2 days to get here.

Maybe lucky, but orders from DMGRS and Rimmers both came blisteringly fast.

Thanks to both.

only euro car parts have not delivered on time as far as I recall.
I've had next day deliveries on Black and Decker workmate spares.
Any other delivery the delivery time has been ok.

white van man must be making a killing. Yesterday 3 deliveries in one go in our road and sometime 6 collections from our house thanks to ebay.

The post office may be taking a hit within the UK as people are not going to the post office to post but using for example Hermes that collect. Hermes will lose out as they do not do international.

Ordered a few parts from DMGRS and no problem with delivery, one item arrived today actually and was ordered earlier in the week

I had the same issue with drop links ordered from eBay. Ordered on the 1st April, despatched on the 2nd, on a 48hr service. Finally arrived on the 16th! No tracking info, not even when it was scanned into the system, until the day it arrived.

What made it most annoying was when it arrived, I realised I'd only ordered one! So had to order another, ordered on the 16th, despatched the same day, and still waiting, again, no tracking info so far.

This isn't through DMGRS, and when I emailed the seller apparently its a RM centre in London, down to 40% staffing levels, and workload up over double.

Ordered things from other parts of the country, and received within days (such as an order from a model railway shop, ordered one morning and received the next)
