Default Is there enough life after retirement?

Is there enough life after retirement?

We retire at various ages, some as young as mid to late 40's but once you get to mid 50's and beyond is there really enough life left for us to enjoy?

I hear people dying in their 70's and time seems to go so quickly, I feel I will be there with lots still to do. My health perhaps stopping me getting under cars, doing hours of DIY, walking or cycling 10 miles, long days out.

I know there are people out there that can cover these distances but I just feel we work so many years and retire so little before death or ill health comes calling.

I retired 3 years ago, time has flown by and this year has been wasted with so many days out cancelled. I love being retired, I love having time to do things but worry time is running out.

I made the decision many years ago whilst still working, to take early retirement if I could afford to as I'd seen many colleagues work until 65, then pass away shortly after. So, 11 years ago now, I cashed my private pension and "retired" I'm 65 at the end of the month, but with an extra year before my State pension, ( Thanks government) I'm enjoying life as it comes.
I will be annoyed if I pop my clogs next year though before I can get my pension

I’m a little concerned that with all the debt the UK’s racking up atm, by the time I get near retirement age the rules will have changed again and it will have moved up, or the pension will be derisory...

Cool

I’ve been retired 12 years now, took early retirement to look after my late wife.

And after living in the same flat for 68 years I pulled up my roots and moved to Cornwall.

You live each day as it comes, many a person would love to have made it this far.

When my time comes I want it quick, I don't want to see the lights going out.

My Dad was 63, he retired at 60, but my Mum was still working so they had no retirement together.

Think you've got to live each days as if it's your last, tomorrow may never come!

I retired 18 years ago (aged 53) to look after my Mother. Finances took a hit, and she lived for a further 13 years aged 98 (I must have done something right), but I don't regret a moment. I have written 2020 off as the "lost year", but it can only get better. I have lost 6 friends during the pandemic (only one from Covid), but try to get pleasure out of the simple things in life, so am happy with my lot.

Life is what you make it.
