We had a cat when I was a kid, a farmer gave it to my father, lovely colour, pinky ginger stripes but it was psycho! Loved the dog we had but we were just a convenient source of food and if you didn't feed it within its timescale it would get a grip of your leg! When we got a cardboard box I'd cut windows and a door in it, the cat would hide in it. If you scraped the box a paw would appear out of a window and feel around. My aunt and uncle were visiting, my uncle stuck his hand through one of the windows "what's in here then?". He let out a roar and lifted the box and cat which was very securely clamped onto his arm up in the air

Yeah Another bloomin' job I could have done without, All these jobs are piling up. I still have to dig a trench to the garage to lay that armoured cable I bought yet I started to dig it over Christmas but it's been full of water ever since then

Don't have to worry about anything a roof level, single storey anyway but the old boy next door was a roofer, any bad storms he's checking slates etc. Just as well because as I've got older I've come to deeply dislike ladders, no confidence on them at all now. Cauldron of pork adobo bubbling away, chopped up pork joint (1" cubes) cooked with a shedload of garlic (whole bulb blitzed), soy sauce, touch of vinegar, whole black peppercorns and ground black pepper, bay leaves, longer it cooks the better. Be ok by dinner time but even better tomorrow. Last edited by stevestrat; 13th March 2021 at 15:10.. |

[QUOTE=stevestrat;2870786]Yeah, I know that Ian, just nature. My wife's ludicrous suggestion of chasing it, she's never seen it, in and out in a flash. Don't have cats around here, just the four cottages with no other houses around. Any cat that appeared would get short shrift from the girls anyway.
The old house was in an estate, our dog at the time, Milka a Toy Poodle, was always chasing cats out of the garden. However one day he went to chase a cat and it just stood and looked at him . . . . he skidded to a halt "this ain't right!" He thought better of it and walked away.[/QUOTE My collie was a cat chaser, only if the cat ran though If it just sat there and looked at him he would sort of sniff it as if to say hello are you going to run? If he ever caught up with one he wouldn’t do anything it was just the thrill of the chase

It’s bright and sunny now but a very cold wind bloweth. It was quite mild and sunny early afternoon and I got the jet washer out to clean the van,car and bikes, I also planned to clean 3 rugs for a customer. No sooner had I got the machine out and it chucked it down so that was the end of that idea. Off to mum’s tomorrow as it’s mother’s day. I’m making her lunch instead of the Carers doing it and if it’s nice we will take her for s wzlk round the local park for a change of scenery. All she gets these days is a walk round the grounds of her complex once a week with me, and the more people she sees and speaks to the more of her comes back from the grip of dementia. Once she has had her second vaccination and the next lot of restrictions are eased I will arrange for her friends to go and visit a couple of them at a t

I was out with the girls earlier, waiting to cross the main road. A guy on a pushbike came along, couple of cars held up by him then a yoof on one of those "wasp in a jam jar" mopeds blipping the throttle with impatience. The cars passed the bike then as the intellectual on the moped passed him he let loose a foul mouthed tired for the guy on the bike daring to hold him up. Shudder to think what that a...hole will be like once he's in a car

I wouldn't have made a good chimney sweep! Although we helped dad as kids sweeping the chimney on a regular basis. My eyes are smarting like heck with that soot from the chimney, No sign of the pigeon since late afternoon

A bit like toddlers at Christmas. The wrapping and box is way more interesting and fun than whatever present it contained. |
