Default Would you replace your 75 with a Renault Clio?

This was in the Honest John Motoring column Daily Telegraph yesterday .....

Q. "The time has come for me to replace my 12 year old Rover 75 Connoisseur SE automatic. Can you suggest a suitable small luxury car for an elderly drive? It’s mostly for local journeys with a few motorway trips."
OB Brentwood.

A. The new Renault Clio is quite luxurious and rides nicely on 15inch wheels. The 1.2TCe EDC dual-clutch automatic works quite well.

Answers on a postcard please ...........

I came very close to doing the same thing last year, but that was for a diesel one. I drove one for six months and fell in love with it. Needless to say I didn't follow through, ZT is still a far better car.

Clio = Luxery? Er no. Unless its an older initiale model!

NO NO NO NO NO. I would rather walk than replace a good car with a hateful piece of rubbish. Nearly 30 years of working at cars I havent found a good french car yet. But thats just my opinion.

Got both....the Clio has its place, certainly easier to park in town, but the 75 for long runs....always!!

I wouldn't have a Clio or in fact any Renault, even if I were paid.
Dreadful things

I'd stay well away from French cars. My Brother in law has a 2010 Pug 207 1.4 and the engine is so noisy. My 8 year old ZT Diesel ticks over much quieter!

And from past experience I'd stay away.

If the person wants a small car to replace the 75, I'd go for something like a Polo or Ibiza, or maybe a Mini. But it all depends on budget.
