Default Which Diesel Engine in mine?

I have a very late build (16/3/2005) Rover 75 Diesel. There is nothing to indicate what type of engine I have fitted - whether 131PS or 116PS - other than a miniscule sticker on the offside B column that says "Rover 75 - 2.0D CDTi 135". How reliable/authentic a notification is this? It seems to be the only kind of confirmation I can find, unless there is another way of correctly identifying the engine type. To anyone out there, can you please advise? I ask this because towards the last few days of production, and as rumours spread, quality control standards really slipped as morale weakened and consequential finish standards deteriorated. ED

Have a look on mg-rover.info for your cars build data. Just put in your VIN and it should tell you what it was built as.

Provided your car has it's original ECM fitted, it will be a 135

Hello, I'd say you have a 135 then. You'd really have to drive a 116/8 and compare to know for sure. More learned gentlemen should be along and tell you how to read up from the VIN. May also be able to tell from the diagnostic mode you have operated from the trip but not sure about that one.
Oh, there ya go then

The engines were basically the same, the Cdti's were all 131 PS (135 bhp) the only real difference aiui is the addition of an intercooler and some engine mapping in the ecu, and QC and build quality won't really affect the digital content of the ECU, well unless the bits decided they wanted more money than the bytes and btw, thats a bit of a slur on a bunch of people that got sold down the river by BAE and BMW.

Would they really have still used the 116 version in a late motor, when BHP and performance was all part of the race as time went on?

Given my 150 neddies is massively underpowered for what I'd expect of a car of this class, surely a 116 would be the equivalent of an 1100 Escort, or worse still, a 1300 Cortina 4?

The 116PS diesel was still available right up until the end of production although only in Classic trim, and was still badged as a CDTi. Why anyone would buy one though is a mystery

Default Mine was a 116PS model

I have a late - March 2005 - ZT + auto and the V5 states 85kW (116 in old money).

No sign of an upgrade or X power sticker anywhere.

It has been treated to the shire horse upgrade - the shetlands are now out to stud in someones garden.

I thought they all had an intercooler, otherwise how can you bump up a 116 to 160? I was under the impression that the only difference is the softwear in the ECU gubbins although I am probably wrong
