The MG/Rover loadspace liners.
Just a little information on the loadspace liners.
Brochure AKM703 of Mar 1999 advertised the Flexible liners with Rover logo at £70. Until Brochure AKM 743 of Dec 2001 when the liners were now sold and illustrated as Rigid, but without the Rover logo and still selling at £70. Various vendors on ebay sell rigid liners for our cars, what the quality is like I don't know. Has anyone on the forum purchased one of these able to give us feed back? Perhaps the forum dealers might be able to import liners from China that are more suited to our cars. Kev. |

The tourer liner is excellent when transporting anything dirty like sacks of compost, coal or logs. I only put it in the car when I'm going to be picking up those items. I have had both the OEM and pattern part saloon rigid liner. In my opinion the pattern one I bought from eBay (I can't remember the seller) was better quality and more useable than the OEM one with a lower lip. I gave the pattern one to my friend as I'm a sad muppet for originality. We have another pattern liner for my wife's Honda CR-V as it was much much cheaper than the Honda liner and has proved invaluable in over 6 years of service with three dogs. I'd have no hesitation in recommending one, I have never found an OEM rubber saloon boot mat and not sure they ever made one, the OEM tourer rubber mat I also have is good quality but gets little use now. |

I want a rigid one for my saloon - I've got a genuine Toyota one in my Avensis and its invaluable. I look forward to seeing what the general consensus is on the EBay ones!

For when I am shifting rubbish in my tourer I bought a large (jumbo?) hippo bag (the biggest one they do),then just cut down the seams at one end to fold out. This makes a good size load space liner - almost up to the roof and prey much full length and width of the load space with the seats down. Just doesn't look so nice

I have the factory rigid liner for the tourer, and as already mentioned, it is great when shifting dirty stuff. You do need somewhere to store it though when not in use. I only put mine in the car when I need it because it's a real pain otherwise if you need something from the wheel well.

On both my cars I have a plastic tray I purchased at my local garden centre. They're the ones used to hold grow bags and they fit very neatly long wise just inside the boot. On the Jag I've got it fixed onto the luggage clips just inside the boot.
They're ideal for holding the weekly shopping without it going walk a bout inside the boot. Also small items can simply be placed on the tray. As for rubbish I always place an old sheet inside the boot to keep it clean. I keep it hanging out over the bumper when loading to prevent it getting damaged then turn the edge of the sheet inside the boot to close the lid. |
