Default Hi line sat nav CD player faulty

Hi Guys n Gals

My factory fitted Sat Nav CD reader in the back has stopped reading my CD rendering the Nav system useless. The radio and everything else seems to be fine. If I eject and then reinsert the CD the unit makes a lot of the kind of noises that indicate the laser is struggling to read the disc as if the disc was faulty but I have tried another nav disc with the same result so my question is

Can these units be repaired if so by whom any recommendations? or is there a substitute unit or does anybody have a working second hand unit for sale.? cheers

If it is just the laser unit, these can be swapped quite easily. If you can find a cheap enough second hand unit (which could be one suffering from firmware issues as the laser should still be ok) you could swap it over yourself.

Hi Mark,
personally I wouldn`t bother repairing, you should be able to pick one up cheap enough through the usual channels. You could also upgrade to the BMW e-46 MK4 D.V.D.one(quite costly) but has added functions, try a search.

I have got a working one you can have. Not sure what they are worth but have seen complete systems go for 150 so 40 plus postage any good.

Have got he rest of the system as well if you want that for 100
