Lovely “bird”. Shame it’s still not flying. It used to do it’s pilot training up here at Prestwick and I’ve got some cracking footage of it doing one of its circuits.

BTW as far as I am aware Prestwick has only been closed twice, once when Ryanair over shot the runway and the other when Concorde landed heavily and a warning about the nose wheel came up. She came to a standstill on the main runway and a local company had to make a temporary support for the nose before engineers could fly up the next day to repair her.

Yes, really interesting documentary..the ironic bit was watching the first flights in I think 1957..super sonic aircraft and in the back ground all the crappy cars from that period parked at the airfield..

Maiden flight was in 1969. Luckily, whilst standing on Newmarket railway station, my sister and I saw the prototype with an escorting fighter, fly over us.

Yes right, the French flew first March 69, thanks. The project started in the 50's.

What a great programme and a fantastic aircraft ahead of its' times. Sad that it is no longer flying. The investigation into the 2000 crash was revealing - a combination of factors. A few new contenders are being developed but they won't have the magic of Concorde .

So true; luckily for me, living near Heathrow I was able to watch them numerous times, the best being a twilight take-off with the afterburners going.

My Dad was on the first commercial flight down to Bahrain. I still have a suitcase of his with the Concorde baggage label stuck to it. Paul

Watched that program last night. I loved the concorde when i was a kid, had toy and model concordes and me and my dad always said we'd fly on one some day. Was gutted when they announced grounding them in 2003.

Was interesting to see about the other development planes such as the russian and american ones, never knew about them. Funny how france, uk and Russia were all making a supersonic plane at the same time which all looked the same
