make sure the pads are not sticking on the carrier, remove the pads and clean hard brake dust and rust from these areas.

Sound advice along with good quality pads, I once won some new and boxed pads on the bay of E for £1:00. No matter what i did they never stopped squealing. threw them away after under 100 miles, fitted OEM, never squealed again

I would stick with OEM or possibly Mintex if on a budget.

They are OEM!! Boxed with Rover branding!

The disks I had fitted were new and werent cheap either. Can disks cause the noise? Or is it purely down to the pad?

Yes the disc's can bind a little if you have problems with the run off, or the distotion of the disc you can check this with feeler blades at different points.

Had the same problem and solved it by taking off the Calipers and giving them a good clean. There was so much dirt and rust built up that I had to get it off with a small hammer and finish them off with a wire brush.I put a smear of copper grease on the back of the discs and where the lugs of the pads sit in the Caliper, and that seems to have sorted it.

Buy some anti-squeal sticky pads that go on the back of your pads from Halfauds
